The In-laws are coming [260Days blog #13]

I dropped the kids off at daycare this morning and headed to work. It was a work day – no students – so I got a lot done. I brought home a tonne of laminating to cut out over my week off for Teacher’s Convention Break. As I was driving home Ryan called. He was on his way home as well and had had quite a day working outside in -20 weather. My inlaws were coming for the weekend and we were both wondering what time they were planning to arrive. Turns out we were all on route to our house at the same time. I picked up the kids and headed home to see gramma and grampa. It turned out well that I hadn’t planned supper yet, because they offered to take us out to eat!

When we got home, we got the kids to bed; which couldn’t have come soon enough. They had definitely had a long day! We sat and chatted with Ryan’s mom and step-dad as I cut out laminating. They eventually left for their hotel and I immediately starting thinking about how much I didn’t want to have sex tonight. I was feeling a bit ‘blah’ and just wanted to finish my cutting, have a bath and go to bed. I told Ryan that I wasn’t really feeling like doing anything tonight. He wasn’t too disappointed. He was having trouble warming up after his work day in the freezing cold. He is never cold so he was having some trouble dealing with it. I’m sure he wouldn’t have been disappointed to have done something tonight though.

It’s really nice to not feel guilty if I don’t feel like having sex. I can just tell him. Ryan knows that if it doesn’t happen tonight it’s gonna happen tomorrow, so he’s not too upset if I want to use one of our nights off.

I finished my work, had a great bath and then cuddled up with Ryan in bed as he read and I fell asleep.

Happy Friday night, Melanie
